Details

Our company, Playbook International Media Corp., is developing RealEstatePlaybook.ca, a soon-to-launch real estate investment platform. A key aspect of our platform is the ability to manually upload properties for analysis. Currently, this process lacks a streamlined user interface (UI), making it inefficient for both our internal team and potential end-users.

We are seeking to collaborate with students to design and develop an intuitive User and End-User Interface for property uploads to our database system. The goal is to create a seamless experience for both our backend team and daily active users, ensuring efficient data input, improved usability, and enhanced workflow automation.

This will involve several key tasks for the students, including:

  • Conducting user research to understand the workflow and data input needs of our internal team and potential end-users.
  • Analyzing best practices in UI/UX design for property data entry and real estate analytics platforms.
  • Wireframing and prototyping the UI to ensure optimal layout, ease of use, and functionality.
  • Developing a functional front-end prototype that allows users to input property details, upload relevant files, and ensure database compatibility.
  • Collaborating with our technical team to align the interface with existing backend structures and database requirements.
  • Testing and iterating on the UI, gathering feedback, and refining the design to optimize performance.

Deliverables:

  • A research report summarizing key insights from user research and industry best practices.
  • Low-fidelity and high-fidelity wireframes to illustrate the proposed UI layout.
  • A fully functional front-end prototype demonstrating the manual property upload process.
  • A presentation/demo of the final product, including rationale behind UI/UX decisions and how it improves existing processes.

Bonus Steps (if time allows):

  • Integration of basic automation features to enhance efficiency in data entry.
  • Initial usability testing with real users to gather insights and improve adoption.

This project offers students hands-on experience in UI/UX design, frontend development, and real-world application in proptech (property technology). It is an opportunity to work on a high-impact project that will contribute directly to the launch of a cutting-edge real estate platform.

Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:

  • User Research & Requirements Report. A breakdown of the needs of both internal and end-users, including pain points, key functionalities, and usability considerations.
  • a combination of low-fidelity wireframes for early-stage design concepts and high-fidelity prototypes that showcase the actual look and feel of the UI.
  • a working model of the UI that allows manual property uploads, formatted for integration into our system.
  • a comprehensive walkthrough of the solution, detailing design rationale, workflow efficiency, and potential improvements.

Bonus steps would include:

  • gathering feedback from real users (internal or external) and refining the design accordingly
  • exploring ways to automate parts of the upload process to reduce manual input errors and increase efficiency.
  • preparing documentation for potential API integration to further enhance the upload process in future iterations

Final deliverables should include

  • A final report.
  • presentation/demo of the final product, including rationale behind UI/UX decisions and how it improves existing processes.
