Student-consultants in groups of 5 will develop a hiring manual to standardize and improve hiring practices and challenges currently faced by your organization.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Phase 1 Project Plan: Students will be in contact (virtually) with organization representative(s) to devise the project scope and prepare a detailed plan for completion of the project.

Phase 2Project Execution: Students will work on deliverables outlined in the project plan. Teams will periodically communicate with organization representative(s) as needed to complete project tasks.

Phase 3 - Outcome – Hiring Manual. Each student-consultant group will submit a short manual that includes some or all of the following:

  • Workflows of business processes.
  • Reference to job analysis/job descriptions.
  • Templates for job postings.
  • Legal compliance.
  • Recruitment methods by job type.
  • Resume management.
  • Candidate shortlisting techniques.
  • Recommendations on the use of tests.
  • Interview procedures.
  • Reference checks.
  • Onboarding.

Requirements

Starting this June, a class of continuing education student-consultants will develop an effective hiring manual for your organization's Managers and Supervisors.

Through understanding your organization's current practices and analyzing opportunities for improvement, student-consultants will provide a comprehensive guide to optimize your hiring processes.

Sample student projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Diagnosing current state of recruitment and selection practices in your organization and challenges faced in attracting talented and qualified individuals.
  • Developing a plan to develop content and tools (e.g. “hiring toolkit”) that will serve to train hiring managers and supervisors.
  • Integrating recommendations for a more efficient and reliable internal system to manage the recruitment and selection processes.
